About

I’m a Mechanical Engineering major at the University of Central Florida. I was born in China and raised in Canada, which shaped my multicultural perspective and introduced me to multiple languages and ways of thinking. While I didn’t grow up speaking Mandarin, I became fluent in French and English, and later began learning Spanish. These language experiences have helped me develop a deeper appreciation for communication, adaptability, and the balance between technical and creative expression—skills that continue to serve me both academically and personally.
A big part of my motivation comes from my cat, Spot—a black and white tuxedo cat with unique spots and an even more unique personality. He’s a constant source of comfort, inspiration, and joy in my life, and reminds me daily why I strive to create, improve, and pursue goals that matter to me.

Hobbies

Outside the classroom, I have a strong creative side. I enjoy drawing, riding motorcycles, playing video games, and playing soccer. I ride a Kawasaki Ninja 650 and am an active member of UCF’s Knight Riders motorcycle club. Whether I’m sketching, gaming, or riding, I’m drawn to movement, imagination, and challenge. You can usually find me exploring new hobbies or chasing adrenaline on two wheels.

Academics

While I’ve always gravitated toward math and science, this semester helped me uncover a surprising strength: writing. Though reading has often been a struggle, writing—especially reflective and creative writing—has become a space where I can express complex thoughts, explore identity, and connect with others. I’ve developed a deep appreciation for poetry and now hope to write a book someday. This ePortfolio is a snapshot of my journey as a writer so far—each artifact like a planet I visited, each challenge a new mission. I hope you enjoy the voyage.

Cosmic Sky

When I began this course, I didn’t fully see myself as a “writer.” I’ve always gravitated toward math and science—fields where precision and logic rule. Reading has been a challenge for me, and I often struggled to connect with long or abstract texts. But writing? Writing surprised me. I found that I could communicate ideas more clearly, express emotion more freely, and experiment with my voice more confidently than I ever expected. Through this course, I’ve learned that writing is more than just academic—it’s personal, adaptable, and powerful.

As I worked through each assignment, I began to understand writing as a process rather than a product. Some pieces came easily, others required revision and rethinking, but all of them helped me grow. From early narrative work that explored my identity and cultural background, to more analytical and argumentative pieces, I began to find my own rhythm. This portfolio is a reflection of that journey—organized to showcase not just what I created, but how I developed along the way.

I’ve chosen a space theme for my ePortfolio because writing this semester felt a lot like launching into the unknown. At first, I was uncertain, orbiting familiar patterns and clinging to safe structures. But as the course went on, I gained the confidence to take risks, revise boldly, and explore new territory in both form and voice. Each artifact you’ll find here marks a different stop on that journey—evidence of a writer learning to navigate with purpose. As I move forward in my academic and professional path, I know that these skills—reflection, adaptability, and communication—will stay with me, grounded like gravity, no matter how far I go.
